It’s April, and our calendar is full of interesting events. The name “April” comes from the Latin word Aperit, which means “to open.” April opens the growing season, and April 26 is National Arbor Day. And April 15 means your income tax is due. Also, April is National Poetry Month.
April 19-25 is National Volunteer Week. Think of all the activities and benefits you enjoy because of volunteers. Your wonderful SunBird Library is free to SunBird residents and is maintained by a dozen resident volunteers. They deserve a big pat on the back for all the hours put in every day.
And finally, we offer these words of wisdom from TV star Jerry Seinfeld: “A bookstore is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking.”
