New Year’s resolutions are both fruitless and time wasters. Folks will give you this wisdom every January. However, January 1, 2016 I made a New Year’s resolution that was productive and fun.
I resolved that during the year I would find at least two new authors to read: writers I’d never read or categories never explored. Here was a New Year’s resolution I knew was a challenge.
One day a friend handed me a book by Charlotte Hubbard. She is the author of bestselling Christian fiction novels and unknown to me. I found her characters warm and the story of Amish family life an interesting highlight. Searching the Christian Fiction section of our Library, readers can find an entire section of faith novel writers. Another new author was a pleasant surprise. Mystery writer Ron Wick is a SunBird resident. Our library has two of his novels, Quantum Kill and Killer Disc. (These must be checked out through Nancy, with a time limit). I visited with Ron and he tells me his new book, The Granata Affair should be out about October 2017.
Other discoveries last year were RaeAnne Thayne – her novel Snowfall on Haven Point was on the best seller list in October. Also Bill O’Reilly’s Killing series (Killing Jesus, Killing Kennedy, Killing Lincoln, Killing Patton and Killing Reagan). Other O’Reilly books such as Legends and Lies can be found in the Non-Fiction section.
Here’s a New Year’s resolution you can do: resolve to return all library property. Please put the book into the cover when you return the cover.
We thank you!
