The Mat Makers still meet in the Hopi Room on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., but we still need help, mainly in the crocheting department. If you crochet or are interested in learning how to crochet, we need you!
We have an abundance of plastic bags, but since our world is being flooded with plastic, we want to continue to make our sleeping mats, totes, and water bottle carriers out of plastic bags. We feel that finding another purpose for plastic is not only keeping them out of the landfill but also providing a service to others. So, thank you for all your donations, but we are also inviting you to join us in this worthwhile endeavor. We can always use more people flattening bags, cutting them into strips and then rolling the plastic into plarn (plastic yarn), and eventually crocheting that plastic into useful articles that others might need or can use. Please consider joining us. We have a great time visiting and sharing time together.
