The Desert Winds Concert Band will be returning to SunBird Golf Resort on Feb. 23 at 6:30 p.m. for a wonderful evening of music. You will hear a variety of marches, showtunes, and other traditional concert band music to create an evening of fun and excitement while bringing back memories of music you have always enjoyed. This is a free concert, held in the SunBird ballroom; however, donations are graciously accepted to help defray expenses for new music and equipment. Bring your friends and neighbors to fill up the ballroom. You will not want to miss it, so put the date and time on your calendar.
The Desert Winds Concert Band is made up of about 40 to 45 senior musicians from many states and Canada. We are all volunteers under the direction of Bob Meyers who was a band director in New Mexico before retiring and coming south to Arizona. Our practice home is Apache Wells Resort every Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. There are currently three members residing in SunBird, one in Cottonwood, and one in Sun Lakes Phase 1. We invite anyone who is interested in playing in a band again to dust off your instrument and come join the fun.
