Desert Threads Will Sell Quilts at Sun Lakes Bazaar

Diana Jones shows her “Pieced Cats” quilt she made for the Bazaar.

Come see the many quilted items being offered for sale on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4, at the Sun Lakes Country Club. Desert Threads quilters have been working hard this summer doing what they enjoy in order to have available many quilted items for sale at the Bazaar. The funds raised will help cover expenses of our organization to obtain materials to make more quilts to be given to local charities and to support our education and lectures. There will be baby quilts, kids’ quilts, lap quilts, small throw quilts, table runners, large tote bags, and other items, too. This will be a great opportunity to obtain items for gift giving this coming holiday season. You’ll not want to miss our table in the reception area outside the Navajo Room in the clubhouse.

Desert Threads will also sell tickets for the raffle of our beautiful Opportunity Quilt made this past year by many members. This beautiful quilt will make a wonderful decorative addition to any home. Tickets will sell for $1 each or six tickets for $5. The drawing will be at the end of the Arizona Quilters Guild big Quilt Show in March (watch for future information about the show). You won’t want to miss the chance to win this gorgeous quilt.

The Nov. 8 meeting is about Modern Quilting and features speaker Claire Victor. Claire is a member of the Phoenix Modern Quilt Guild. This meeting gives attendees the opportunity to learn more about the Modern Quilt movement and techniques. The December meeting features Alyce Leach. Also in December, the UFO (UnFinished Object) Challenge will showcase members who have completed quilts they started before last year and now have finished in 2023.

Desert Threads is a chapter of Arizona Quilters Guild (AQG). For information about AQG and a list of virtual lectures and workshops offered, see the website, www.arizonaquiltersguild.org.
