Desert Navy Update

Richard Volpe

As we settle into the summer months and start to think a little bit about the monsoon season soon to be upon us, we still have a lot to be thankful for. As each day passes by, it’s a pleasure to see that things continue to flow in a positive direction, and hopefully this will continue as we approach the Labor Day holiday. Although COVID-19 is still of great concern, it is pretty apparent that the atmosphere is slowly changing, as requirements in many areas have been relaxed considerably, opening doors for many more opportunities for all locally and around the Valley.

Plans are taking place for resuming our monthly meetings in the early fall. The times and dates will be the same as prior to our shutdown due to the COVID-19 epidemic; however, a new location for the meeting is in its final planning stages, and details will be provided regarding this to all the current membership prior to when the official start date is finalized, which will be in the September/October time frame, following the Labor Day holiday.

Last but not least, our club has access to an assortment of medically-related items that are available to those in need due to an unexpected emergency or for support of a disability, like wheelchairs (some powered) for short- or long-time use.

On a weekly basis, several club members continue to meet for an enjoyable lunch on Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at IHOP, located off of Arizona Avenue, just north of Ocotillo.

For any questions regarding medical equipment or club membership, Rich Volpe will be happy to talk to you. All veterans of the Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines are always welcome. Rich Volpe can be reached by phone at 480-802-2532.
