There were 148 North Dakotans and South Dakotans who celebrated a fun time Round-Up Party on March 7 at the Cottonwood San Tan Ballroom. There was plenty of time for everyone to meet and greet old friends and make new ones. The gathering started 46 years ago in the then-upstart Sun Lakes Country Club. The party format has varied from simple potluck picnics to formal sit-down dinners with entertainment. The last few years the party has been like a patio BBQ with brats, burgers, and the trimmings.
With two sponsors, Western State Bank (North Dakota and Arizona) and Sanford Health Foundation, everyone received a nice goody bag, and $825 in cash gift cards was awarded.
The food was good, the camaraderie was great, the prizes were fantastic, and even the jokes were pretty good. If you didn’t attend, you missed a good party.
Next year’s party will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025. If you are not receiving emails, then email us at [email protected]. We will make sure you are on the list, and you will get announcements and registration details for next year’s party. Next year the party will be even bigger and better.
Remember, we need everyone to help get the word out. Remind your friends that all anyone needs to do is to contact us at our email address, [email protected], anytime throughout the year. We will get them on our email list. If you aren’t on the list, well, golly, you just ain’t really from Dakota. Also remember, you don’t have to winter in Sun Lakes to come to the party. This is for anyone in the whole Valley. We have many folks coming from Maricopa, Mesa, Queen Creek, Apache Junction, and even Buckeye.
