Candidates vie for SunBird Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is comprised of seven members with staggering three-year terms elected by SunBird homeowners. Each year, at least two members of the Board complete their term, and every third an additional member. This year, two Board positions will be available for election with three interested candidates running for these positions. In this issue of the SunBird News and the SunBird website has information regarding each of these candidates. The candidates will also be available to meet and greet residents at SunBird Community Day, Wednesday, November 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ballots will be mailed to each SunBird homeowner the second week of November. If you do not receive a ballot for whatever reason, please stop by the SunBird Office to obtain one. The deadline for voting is Monday, December 17. The Elections Committee will meet Tuesday, December 18, to verify and tally votes. If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to contact the SunBird Office and don’t forget to vote!

Full-time residence, from Oregon and Washington, current SunBird Finance Committee member and past ladies golf president. Retired Executive/CEO for a local chapter of a national construction association. Worked closely with multiple boards and committees.

I am running for the Board of Directors because I want to give back to a community that has given so much to me. SunBird is more than just a community. It’s an extended family. Better yet – it’s the family member that everyone wants to visit. I feel I have what it takes to help continue the progressive, forward-moving momentum that we are known for. I am proud of our community, our fiscal responsibility that allows us to boast of not only a well-kept, fun community, but one that is setting new trends by continually being open to new ideals and activities, while ensuring there is something for everyone at every stage of life.

I look forward to the opportunity serve you, to listen to you and your suggestions. Together we will continue to make SunBird the Best – better yet, to be the community that all the others want to be like.

I would appreciate your trust in me and your vote.

I would like to serve on the Board of Directors because I am passionate about progressively growing our community while remaining fiscally sound. I would like to continue to provide activities for all demographics in SunBird. I am open minded and willing to listen to both sides of any story. I will be focused on SunBird’s continuous improvement.

I am a full-time resident active in pickleball, horse racing, corn toss and car club. My wife and I chair the annual Alzheimer’s Pickleball Charity Event held in SunBird. I am always available to lend a hand to the HOA or residents needing assistance. I regularly use the fitness room, pool, enjoy socializing in the Horizon Room and recently started to participate in the challenging game of golf!

I had a successful small business background in the Seattle area prior to my retirement. I am proud of this community, and I have influenced friends to purchase homes in SunBird. I consistently support the use of the Horizon Room to provide food and refreshments for any event (family or club) that we host in SunBird in order to assist in fiscal responsibility.

I look forward to serving our community in this capacity.

I am seeking reelection to the SunBird HOA Board. I am a seasoned Board member. I have taken numerous courses on HOA: Law, Finance and Budgeting, CC& R’s, Insurance, Reserve Funding, Leadership, Meeting Operations and Community Development. I have been serving on The Leadership Centre Board of Director as VP since 2004.

In addition to the above, I have established a rapport with several City Council persons and served on several committees, including the Build Out Committee, Neighborhood Advisory Committee sub-committee on Rentals and the Chandler Airport Commission.

In an effort to keep my finger on the pulse of the community, I belong to the Italian Club, the German Club, Irish Club and several card groups. I also serve on the Finance Committee. Through these associations, I attempt to lean what community members feel the Board should be doing and bring such to the Board meetings.

My goals have been, and will continue to be, to work with the other Board members to maintain a reasonable budget, a secure Reserve Fund and Capital Improvement Fund to create new amenities without added assessments.

I welcome your support in my candidacy for HOA Board election.
