The March 30 HOA Board meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. All members of the Board were present. The minutes of the February 23 Business Meeting, the March 3 Executive Meeting and the March 16 Agenda Planning Meeting were approved as corrected. Gordon Lee gave the Treasurer’s report.
Layne Varney gave his manager’s report. He explained that three of the proposed CC&R questions were recounted because the tallies were very close (two had failed and one had passed). After the recount, the end results did not change. The draft of the amended CC&Rs will be submitted to our attorney for final review and recording.
He reported that Horizon Room sales for the months of January and February were up 31 percent over last year’s same months. Activity has increased greatly with Trivia Night, Karaoke/DJ night, Build-Your-Own-Burger night, breakfasts and lunches and catering. Upcoming special events include Cinco de Mayo on May 5 and Mother’s Day on May 10.
Committee Reports were given. Gordon reported that the Finance Committee has been reviewing SunBird’s insurance coverage. Pat McGonegle reported that the ACC committee is continuing working with residents on weed control. Dee Brown reported that the Project Review and Long Range Planning Committee will be presenting three recommendations at this meeting. Nancy Eckstein reported that two issues were brought up at the Rules Committee: 1) that vendors are driving too fast in SunBird and 2) that vehicles from the visitors’ lane were being allowed to enter SunBird as residents were resulting in both vehicles entering the intersection of Augusta and Championship at the same time. The chairman will speak to Patrol about these issues. Jean Pritchard reported that about 3500 pounds of paper were shredded and over 200 pounds of fabric was donated at the Shredding/Recycling Event held on March 26.
Chuck Warren reported on the Fish Fundraiser for the Golf Course Lake. He said that the Kare Bears donated $260, the Italian Club donated $50, the Shuffleboard for Fun Club donated $70 and he donated $200. These donations were enough to pay for one-half of the cost of the fish with the Golf Club picking up the remaining cost. Kids and their grandparents are having a great time catching and releasing the fish.
The Project Review and Long Range Planning Committee recommended that tile be purchased for the Clubhouse exterior in front of the Ballroom and the area north of the reconstructed pool leading to the south entrance of the Clubhouse. They recommended that Red Carpet Flooring be hired to install the tile in the Ballroom area. The area north of the pool would not be started until the pool is completed. They also recommended that improvements be made to the small pool including such items as adding two park benches with cushions, wall décor, flower pots and no smoking signs. The Board approved these three requests.
A discussion was held on allowing homeowners and realtors to put up directional signs when they hold open houses. This will be taken to the Rules Committee for review.
The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
