Address Identification: According to 2018 IFC (International Fire Code), Section 505, and the Chandler Fire and Residential codes, all new and existing buildings need to have identification. House addresses must be visible from the street fronting the property. Address numbers must be Arabic numbers (no Roman numerals) and must be not less than four inches high and one-half inch wide. The visibility of these numbers is important for police, fire, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles to respond to the correct place of an emergency in a timely manner. With all the home improvement in our community, some may have inadvertently forgotten to replace the addresses on their homes. Please do so as soon as possible for your own safety.
Our thanks to Aaron Huckstep, Fire Marshall for the City of Chandler Fire Department, for this information.
