Art Club News

What a great success our SunBird Art Club enjoyed at this year’s annual Art Show and Sale! This year we invited artists from organizations around the Valley and opened up our event to include a wider array of art forms, i.e., pottery, handcrafted jewelry, and even hand-painted seashells, to name a few! The annual raffle is always a hit, and congratulations to all the lucky winners this year!

An added bonus to this year’s event was honoring our founder Irene Coatta who started the Art Club 30 years ago and is still actively sharing her amazing talent, as she continues to produce beautiful, large paintings and is always there serving as a mentor, teacher, and inspiration to all of us in the Art Club! What a gift she is to SunBird!

As spring approaches, we look forward to doing road trips throughout the Valley and, hopefully, doing some outdoor painting trips, taking advantage of the beautiful surroundings that Arizona has to offer! And, as always, we welcome new members to join us in our love of creating art!

We now meet upstairs in the Hopi Room on Fridays, which gives us the full day to work on our projects in a leisurely environment, whether we stay all day or part of the day. Also, be sure to check out our ever-changing displays in the showcase by the library, across from the office.
