December brings a time of joy and cheer. Our club really enjoys great friendships and the holidays find us reflecting on how much we all mean to each other. This year is especially poignant as we have lost another one of our members. Sandra Rempert had been a long time member and she brought to us not only her marvelous artistic talents, but she was able to provide each of us with her wisdom and insights especially through our critiques. Anyone who has seen her works has glimpsed her love of painting which conveyed whimsy, beauty and abilities in all mediums and subject matter. We witnessed great courage as she fought a terrible disease. In this season of joy and gifts let us appreciate her gift of friendship and the happy memories that we get to keep forever.
The following poem was written by one of our members, Sharyl Byrd, and is a lovely tribute to a lovely woman:
Sandy, the Rainbow in our Sky
Her spirit was a rainbow
reflected in her eyes
No canvas could escape
her transference of surprise
With brush in hand
she displayed her trademark skill
We beheld creations best
from her mighty quill
She leaves behind
such inspiration anew
We can all say with joy
our rainbow, we loved and knew.
