Sun Lakes Community Theatre presents another production of An Evening of Old Time Radio, directed by Roger Edmonds. Theatergoers of a certain vintage – you know who you are, now living in Sun Lakes – who saw the previous show were drawn back to the “Golden Age of Radio” when we listened and used our imaginations to create in our minds the images of the unique characters whose voices flowed out of our parents’ and our old radios.
This is our summer production of three all-new segments of your favorite old radio comedies, featuring The Bickersons, Fibber McGee and Molly and The Fred Allen Show, plus an appearance by our special guest star Mr. Jack Benny!
The show will be performed live on the stage at the Cottonwood Ballroom! Watch and listen as the program’s radio announcer sets the stage for the action of each segment! Watch and listen to the humorous stories, jokes and comic adventures (and mis-adventures) as portrayed by your own Sun Lakes Community Theatre actors. Watch and listen to how “live sound effects” are created and how the unique old time commercials are brought to life through the many voices of the radio actors.
Choose a date for fun and put it on your calendar! The showtimes at Cottonwood are from Tuesday, June 18, through Friday, June 21, (evenings at 7:00 p.m.); also, there will be a matinee on Saturday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are only $16, and you can choose your specific seats for the performance of your choice. You can purchase tickets online beginning May 28 at our website, www.slctinfo.com. If you are unable to purchase tickets online, please call 480-382-6290 to leave a message and your phone number; someone from SLCT will contact you to arrange for the purchase of your tickets. Please join us for a nostalgic trip backward to our yesteryears of “Old Time Radio.”
