Now that we’ve all had the opportunity to have the taste of the sudden change in the weather, we welcome back all who have been away for a while. With the holiday seasons rapidly approaching, there are many opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. While there was a lot of activity going on during the month of October, the beat goes on right up until the end of the year for us all. On Wednesday, November 8, at their main ballroom, the SunBird community will be holding their Community Day, which has always been a popular place to meet up with old friends and meet some new ones. Outside on the patio you can enjoy some fine food and beverages that will be offered for a small fee. Check your calendars and websites for local activities that will happening around the Sun Lakes areas over the next couple of months. With the Thanksgiving holiday just days away, many of us will have family, friends and others who will be just visiting taking to the roads to take in as much as they can in a short amount of time. Drive carefully as, for many, they may not be familiar with the area, and getting around town could be a challenge.
The Short Line Model Railroad Club has shifted gears to some degree over the past couple of years, although we still have members that have model trains of just about every size. New technologies and improved products have allowed us to get more members involved with hands-on applications and give us a product that we can travel with a lot easier. For those interested, it may be a good time to get in touch with us and see what’s new in model railroading and the new technologies that make this all feasible. We’re always looking for new members, and we know that at some time in all our lives, most of us were fascinated by a train running around the Christmas tree or by the super layout of a close friend.
Our next meeting is scheduled for November 11 and will be held at the SunBird Community Center. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. in the Lakeview Room on the first floor of the Community Center close to the elevator. As always, all interested parties are welcome. If you’re looking for any additional information, feel free to call 480-802-4976, or you can reach us by email at [email protected]. Looking forward to meeting up with you all sometime during this upcoming holiday season. Whether you’re a resident, guest or just spending some time in the area, have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving holiday and enjoy not only the weather, but everything that this state has to offer.
