The 2017 edition of the CRAB Tournament will be held on Saturday, November 18, at the SunBird Golf Course. The tournament pits 30-person teams from each of the Canadians, Roadrunners, Americans and the Bandits groups. Each of the 30 foursomes consists of players from each of the above clubs, grouped together by handicap. Points are awarded to each player depending on their net score. The team with the most points at the end is declared the winner and has the bragging rights for the coming year. There are no monetary prizes awarded to any of the players. All proceeds from the tournament entry fees go towards golf course projects.
The CRAB tournament committee will again this year hold an auction on Friday, November 17, and is pleased to announce that the auction will again be conducted by SunBird’s own resident and talented auctioneer Joel Sybesma and his helpers. As with tournament entry fees, all proceeds from the sale of items at the auction also go to golf course projects. For this auction to be a success for the golf course, as many donations as possible are needed. The donations are solicited from the participating clubs and from all members of the SunBird community. Donations can be in the form of good used or new golf equipment, goodie baskets, certificates from local businesses, household items, tools, gift certificates, baked goods and the list goes on. For information or questions regarding donations, please contact Jerry Chamberlin at 480-497-3680.
As time is running short, if you have not yet signed up to play, please contact your team rep by early the week of November 13. Donated items should also come in at the same time.
The reps are Canadians – Wes Akerman and Dean Huyghebaert, Roadrunners – Bill Johnson and Norm Ott, Americans – Jack Cooper, and Bandits – Dean Tucker.
