Please join us in August for the following great programs!

Tuesday, August 8, at 1:00 p.m. – Planning for Social Security: Know the Basics*

Jack Burns, Public Affairs Specialist with the Social Security Administration, talks about requirements, filing options and resources to help you navigate an often-confusing system. Prior to attending, it’s recommended that you create your “My Social Security Account” at http://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/. The uses of this online account will be discussed during the presentation.

Tuesday, August 15, at 1:00 p.m. – The Hohokam: Craftsmen, Engineers and Farmers*

Alison Stoltman from the Arizona Museum of Natural History shares the story of these incredible people who thrived, despite the harsh conditions of the desert and all without the aid of metal tools.

Thursday, August 17, at 10:30 a.m. – Crafty Kids’ Club: Summer Fun

Join us at our craft club for kids from 10:30-11:30 a.m. This month, we will have some fun by making crafts that “spin.” Crafts are age appropriate for ages 3-6, but all ages are welcomed. Let’s tap into our right-brain and get the creativity flowing! Registration required; registration starts two weeks prior to event.

Thursday, August 24, at 1:00 p.m. – Mammals of the Gila River*

Infrequent rains, extreme heat, the Arizona desert is host to a variety of animals. The O’otham people have an understanding and appreciation for this diverse ecosystem. From a tribal member perspective and language, the Huhugam Heritage Center discusses several animals, their habitats and their ability to thrive.

Monday, August 28, at 1:00 p.m. – Unwind at Adult Coloring Time

Adult coloring is sweeping the country! If you haven’t heard, adult coloring helps promote our general wellness. Feel free to bring a snack, socialize and relax! Although you are welcome to bring your own colored pencils or markers, all supplies are provided.
