The heat is here, and the snowbirds and the rain birds are leaving us. It’s just amazing how fast time flies. It seems like just yesterday that we were gearing up for the very busy season. I guess time flies by real fast in SunBird because we have so much fun.
I did not expect to be writing a second monthly column; however, I am. I do expect that a new manager for the Pro Shop will be hired soon, and then I can give up writing this monthly report. Don’t get me wrong – it’s been fun.
In March, we had several tournaments, including the Road Runners and the Canadians; both had successful events. In addition, the Conley Cup was held; the battle of the Canadians vs. the Americans. This is always a very popular event and a lot of enjoyment for everyone. As of this writing, the Cup had not taken place yet, so I do not have a report on who won. Results will be in next month’s report.
Howl at the Moon tournament will be held on Saturday evening, April 1. This is your chance to play golf in the dark with a glow ball. This tournament has been very popular and always a good time for the participants. Starting time will be around 8:00 p.m.
The Greenskeeper tournament will be held on Saturday, April 8. This is the tournament that our superintendent gets even with the golfers by offering some interesting challenges on the course, so check it out.
Following these events, the first summer tournament will be Memorial Day. It will be held on Monday, May 29. Details can be obtained in the Pro Shop.
Tee times and shotgun starts will continue to be at 8:00 a.m., and call in for tee times will be at 7:00 a.m. We expect these times will change in May. Please check with the Pro Shop for any changes for May. Continue to check the Pro Shop for any bargains we may have on our merchandise.
For those leaving for the summer, thanks for a great season, have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you back for next season.
