One of the things I enjoy the most about the SunBird Art Club (besides actually painting) is the enthusiasm our club members share for learning new ways to express ourselves as we grow as artists. In February, we had the opportunity to have two accomplished artists in the valley conduct classes for us. We all know the concept of painting oils and acrylics on canvas, but on February 4, Carol Hillsberry taught us how to paint watercolor on canvas. Then on February 16, Kathy Mitchell conducted a class on the art of painting on silk. How fortunate we are to be able to learn from such renowned and accomplished artists. We are also so lucky to have our own members share their expertise with us. Irene Coatta and John Price will be sharing their knowledge of working in pastels on March 2.
In addition to continuing to learn, our members are busily putting together our Art Show and Sale to be held on March 18 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in our own ballroom. I urge everyone in SunBird to mark their calendars and come see what we have accomplished. We look forward to sharing our love of art and being able to make new acquaintances as well as visiting with friends and neighbors. Hope to see all of you there.
