Community Church of SunBird

Fall has finally arrived in SunBird. The Community Church of SunBird is excited for the cooler weather and our Snowbird friends that join us for our non-denominational service on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. in the Ballroom.

We kick off this Fall with a great team of Pastors who rotate Sundays throughout the year. Pastors Dr. Jim Baugh, Al Fadi, Dan Graves, and Jeff King inspire and challenge us each week. A weekly Bible Study begins Nov. 4 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Hopi Room led by Pastor Dan Graves. The study will be of the Minor Prophets of the Old Testament.

The CCSB Choir is now practicing on Thursdays from 3 to 4 p.m. Pat Miller leads the Choir and prepares them to sing on a couple of Sundays each month. CCSB also has Bell Ringers led by Linda Stadler. They also practice on Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. and perform on the alternate Sundays each month. New members are welcome to join one or both.

Our first project of the Holiday Season is well under way. We collect items all year to fill shoeboxes for children here and around the world distributed by Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child. Last year we sent off 236 boxes for the girls and boys. This year we have set our Nov. 15 goal of 250 boxes for children from ages two to 14. Our SunBird friends are invited to join us.

We begin December preparing for our sponsorship of the Children’s Christmas program at the Latin American Church of the Nazarene in Downtown Chandler. CCSB church members choose gift tags to buy a Christmas gift for each child in their Children’s program. What a blessing to see the joy on their faces. Later, for the whole month of February, we collect clothing for their church to help the families in their community.

Before you know it, Christmas is here. We want to invite all of you to join us for our Christmas Eve service this year as we celebrate the Birth of Jesus, the Christ.

We hope you have an exciting and wonder-filled Holiday Season. Remember, we meet each Sunday morning at 9 a.m. in the Ballroom. See you there!
