Lance Williams, Executive Director, Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes
At Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes, we believe retirement should be one of life’s most rewarding chapters—a time filled with opportunities to learn, connect, explore, and continue pursuing the passions that make each person unique. While beautiful residences, exceptional dining, and outstanding amenities are important, it is our residents who truly define our community. As Executive Director, I have the privilege of witnessing every day how a resident-driven approach to life enrichment creates an environment where people don’t simply live—they thrive.
Our philosophy of Actively Independent living is built on the belief that maintaining purpose, independence, and meaningful connections leads to a richer and healthier lifestyle. Rather than creating activities for our residents, we strive to create opportunities with them. The most successful events on our calendar begin with a simple question: “What would you like to do next?”
Every resident arrives at Robson Reserve with a lifetime of experiences, talents, and interests. Some have been educators, business leaders, artists, musicians, athletes, volunteers, or world travelers. Others discover entirely new passions after moving here. By encouraging residents to share their ideas, lead clubs, or teach classes, our life enrichment program becomes a reflection of the incredible individuals who call Robson Reserve home.
Being a family-owned community allows us to remain flexible and responsive to the people we serve. Decisions are made with relationships—not corporate mandates—at the center. We have the freedom to listen, adapt, and continually enhance our programming based on resident feedback. Whether ideas come from casual conversations over lunch or suggestions shared with our Life Enrichment team, every voice matters because every resident matters.
Our calendar reflects the many dimensions of active aging. Residents enjoy fitness classes, educational seminars, lifelong learning opportunities, creative arts, volunteer projects, cultural events, live entertainment, spiritual programs, travel adventures, social gatherings, and wellness activities designed to support the whole person. We recognize that active aging looks different for everyone. For some, it may be joining a fitness class or participating in a book discussion. For others, it may be attending a guest lecture, volunteering in the community, or simply sharing coffee with friends each morning.
Resident participation is far more than attendance at scheduled events—it is one of the strongest indicators of engagement, happiness, and overall satisfaction. When residents build meaningful friendships and remain involved in community life, they experience greater confidence, improved emotional well-being, and a stronger sense of belonging. Families notice the difference as well, finding comfort in knowing their loved ones are part of a welcoming community that celebrates independence while providing support whenever it is needed.
At Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes, our commitment to resident-driven life enrichment is an extension of who we are. It reflects our family-owned values of respect, compassion, and personal relationships while bringing our Actively Independent philosophy to life every day. We believe every resident should have the opportunity to continue growing, contributing, and discovering new possibilities.
When residents help shape the community they call home, something extraordinary happens. Participation increases, friendships deepen, laughter becomes more frequent, and every day offers another opportunity to live with purpose. That is the spirit of Robson Reserve at Sun Lakes, and it is one of the many reasons our residents are proud to call this remarkable community home.
