Neighbors Who Care is thrilled to announce an exciting new service for our senior clients who are van approved: The Lunch Bunch Group!

The idea first sparked during routine grocery trips, when a few of our dedicated van drivers noticed a common wish among passengers: the chance to go out to lunch and enjoy good company together. Taking the initiative, volunteer Ellen drafted a proposal for the program, and Volunteer Manager Robin enthusiastically ran with it.

After careful planning and choosing the perfect dining spots, we spread the word, and in no time, we had a full van of eager clients ready for a fun afternoon out.

For our inaugural trip, volunteer Rod took the wheel as driver of the day, with Robin joining as his assistant. After picking up clients right at their front doors and sharing warm introductions, the group headed off to Black Bear Diner, where welcoming tables were set and waiting.

The outing was filled with lively conversation, shared laughter, and heartwarming stories about children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Clients also brainstormed a wish list of favorite local spots they’d love to visit next!

More than just a delicious meal, the trip brought genuine connection, leaving everyone feeling energized, supported, and less isolated.

Looking Ahead

The future of The Lunch Bunch Group is looking bright! We will continue hosting these social outings twice a month for clients approved for van transportation, and as demand grows, we hope to add even more trips to the menu.
