Layne Varney, General Manager
As we enter a time of year when our community experiences increased activity and heavier traffic, it is especially important to pay attention to speed limits. Throughout most areas, the speed limit is set at 10 mph around the clubhouse and 15 mph in the neighborhoods with short and winding roads. However, on Championship, the speed limit increases slightly to 25 mph, but please never exceed that. These limits are in place to ensure everyone’s safety, and it’s crucial that we all follow them.
Stop signs may seem unnecessary at times, but they serve a vital purpose in protecting both drivers and pedestrians. They are there for safety—your safety and the safety of others. Unfortunately, it appears that basic road rules, such as obeying stop signs, are sometimes overlooked, especially during the night or early morning hours.
With more people out walking during this season, it’s important to remember that our community does not have sidewalks. This means everyone walking must use the streets. To minimize the risk of accidents, pedestrians should walk on the right side of the road and stay close to the edge.
In the end, a little courtesy and common sense go a long way. By being mindful of traffic rules and pedestrian safety, we can all contribute to keeping SunBird safer. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable winter season.
