Welcome to all the returning snowbirds. We have some exciting deals for you. After 3:00 p.m. on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays we offer walk-on nine hole golf for $10. The Pro Shop has jackets at a 30 percent discount. Heavy sunshine is coming so make sure you have one of our sunshade hats.
The annual general meeting of the SunBird Golf Club will be held on Tuesday, February 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the SunBird Ballroom. All owners of the golf course are invited to attend. The agenda will include the election of Directors, business reports and voluntary membership reclassification.
There are eight candidates for three positions on the Board of Directors this year. Their profiles are posted on the SBGA Bulletin Board, in this paper, and on our website.
Many member/owners have inquired about a way to gift their membership to the club rather than redeeming it. This will be discussed at our AGM on February 17.
Please note the following tee time changes which were initiated in January. The Niners, a Monday men’s group, has moved to a 1:00 p.m. shotgun. They have some openings for new members. Mondays now have a 9:00 a.m. shotgun and 1:45 p.m. tee times. Through February, the Ladies Nine and 18 Hole clubs will both golf at the 9:00 a.m. Tuesday shotgun. At the end of this month the members will evaluate the success of this initiative.
We are still working out the kinks with the second shotgun. Please be considerate of the on course players by staging on Waterview and, when arriving at your hole, staying well behind the tee box until the first shotgun clears. Always consider a frost delay and check on the web page, Facebook or our call line to make sure you are aware of delays in start times.
The Board of Directors would like to thank our continuing generous supporters, all those who have donated amazing amounts of time, talent and money. We all appreciate those who contributed in excess of $10,000 to our Greening Up Fund, many of whom are not golfers. Through their donations we are able to keep the most visible views of the course green throughout the winter for all of SunBird to enjoy. Generous with his time, Cal MacPherson has brightened our benches and our staging area with a fresh coat of paint.
