SunBird’s iconic water fountain was deteriorating and becoming unstable. Four years ago, a new pump was installed, and at that time, we were told that the fountain was slowly disintegrating on the inside from years of exposure to extreme weather and mineral buildup from our water.
Last spring the decision was made by our HOA board of directors to approve removing and replacing the fountain with a sleeker, easier to maintain water feature. Thanks to a generous donation of $2,500 from the SunBird Garden Club, our new water feature was installed at the end of August. At the same time, the concrete pad under the original fountain was removed and replaced with a four-inch slab of the same circumference. The new pad will provide an unencumbered space for dancing and gathering at future outdoor events or anytime residents are at the clubhouse.
Our memorial brick walkway is undisturbed. If you would like to honor or memorialize a friend or loved one, engraved bricks may be ordered through the HOA office.
Special thanks to Lisa Onyx and the Project Review & Planning Committee for researching new water feature alternatives, presenting the proposal to the HOA board of directors for approval, and for coordinating the installation. Our upcoming outdoor concert on Nov. 18 will be the perfect opportunity to try out our new dance pad!
