The SunBird Pickleball Club is happy that October has arrived—with cooler temperatures and friends returning from vacation and/or to spend their winter season back in SunBird. We’re hoping to see more of our northern friends returning soon. The club will continue summer hours through Oct. 31, 2021: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7 to 10 a.m. and Saturday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. Please use the Sign-Up Genius to communicate with your fellow club members that you are planning to play. If you do not have the link to the sign-up, contact [email protected]. We will ask everyone to sign a 2021-2022 Waiver (as usual) and remind everyone that club dues of $20 per year are due when you first return to the courts to play.
The first of two club meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of November, Nov. 9, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the courts. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. We ask that everyone bring your suggestions on how to improve the club. This is your opportunity to be involved and have a say in how the club evolves over the next year. Any board of directors’ candidate who wants to speak to the group may do so at this time.
For those who haven’t played pickleball yet but would like to give it a try, please do! Use the New Player Sign-Up sheet located in the pickleball glass case near the post office (the one with the paddle and pickleballs on top). Someone will give you a call to arrange a time for orientation—basic rules and court positioning—to get you started. Or just stop by during regular club hours and let someone know you’d like to learn to play. Russ Bower stopped by last month and did just that—and he’s doing great and having fun!
Let’s hit the courts. Game on!
