Dues reminder – The SunBird Men’s Golf Club dues for 2017 must be paid by December 15, 2016. The dues are $55 if paid in the Pro Shop or if paid online at www.azgolf.org, there is a discounted price of $50. The dues not only gives you a membership in the Men’s Club but also gives you a membership in the Arizona Golf Association GHIN handicap system. In order to participate in Men’s Club play, you must have a GHIN handicap. Members who do not pay the required dues will be removed from the handicap list until the dues are paid. Questions may be directed to Fred Garmeson, Membership Chairman at 480-895-9363.

New policy – If you are a member over 80 years of age and are concerned about the loss of distance off the tee or if you are not a member and would like to play in the Men’s Club events but have the same concern, there is good news. The club has just passed a new policy that allows players 80 and above to play from the red tees, if desired. It is not mandatory. Once you decide, your handicap will be adjusted to the red tees and you will be required to play from the reds in Men’s Club events for the remainder of the season. Players who choose to play from the red tees are still eligible to compete for the regular weekly prizes. There are some optional games each week; however, that requires driving from the white tees. If you choose to play from the red tees, you will not be eligible to participate in these games.

Business meeting – The next meeting of the Men’s Club will be held on December 6, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Ballroom. Newcomers to SunBird or others who would like to learn more about the club are invited to attend.
