SunBird Garden Club News

Happy New Year to you and yours from the SunBird Garden Club. We hope that the new year brings everyone good health and much happiness! Also, congratulations to the newly-elected HOA board members. We look forward to working with you to help keep SunBird looking beautiful.

The Garden Club will host its third meeting of the season on Jan. 10, with a presentation entitled “Organic Gardening.” This talk will be given by one of our three Master Gardeners, Judy Sink. Judy’s passion is working with plants and sharing her knowledge with others. And, yes, she says that we can garden successfully here in Arizona! In fact, Judy is currently writing the curriculum for the Master Gardener’s program, and we are lucky to have her share her expertise with us here in SunBird.

In February, the Garden Club has two events planned. On Feb. 3, we will be teaming up with the HOA for its annual field trip to the Sonoran Desert Museum near Tucson. This is an infusion experience of a zoo, botanical garden, art gallery, natural museum, and aquarium. It promises to be a delight for all the senses. As well, on Feb. 14, the Garden Club will be holding its annual Valentine’s Day Tea in conjunction with our regular monthly meeting. The Garden Club has more events pending for March and April. In fact, we would ask that you save the evening of March 3, for our “Community Appreciation Night.” There will be more information on this and other Garden Club activities posted in the next SunBird News.

P.S. We hope that you are keeping an eye out for the “Rock of the Month.” Remember, the rock changes each month, and it is hidden in one of the Garden Club’s project areas. If you find the particular rock that is on the “Wanted” poster displayed in the clubhouse, you can win a $10.00 gift certificate from the Horizon Room. Just a little fun—so keep your eyes peeled!
