Leash Law: Please always be sure to keep a close eye/watch on your dogs the moment they leave the confines of their home and while they are also with you in the common areas of the HOA. Observe them carefully to make sure they are leashed and that you are in control of your dog’s actions. Leash laws are enforced by the Maricopa County Animal Control Office. Maricopa County Leash Laws state that in the City of Chandler, dogs outside of the residence must be in a suitable enclosure or confined on a leash no longer than six feet in length. So, this means that if you are outside with your dog in your garage, carport, or driveway, then your dog must be on a leash and under the control of a person, not just having the leash tied to any structure. CC&R 2.11 states that dogs and other animals (other than certified working dogs for human assistance) must be kept on a leash when they are within the common areas. All pet owners are responsible for confining their pets to their residential lot so as to maintain complete control over the pet’s activities. The advantages to keeping your dog on a leash far outweigh the potential consequences of not. It is also considerate of your neighbors.
