Patrol Report

Thomas Catri

The long, hot Arizona summer desert temperatures are slowly fading away, which brings back those perfect winter temperatures along with our SunBird residents who love the Phoenix area winter weather. Welcome back to all of you!

To all residents, it’s that time of year again (yes, it comes so quickly). Finding ways to protect your community may not directly be your job, but keeping homeowners informed benefits everyone. Rules, along with simple safety reminders, are set and repeated to protect the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the community, along with property values and quality of life. It’s very important for members to respectfully follow the rules set forth by the association.

Golf carts: Please obey and follow all traffic rules and use good common sense so that we can keep our community safe for all residents and visitors. The driver or operator of any golf cart must be at least 16 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Vehicles parked overnight is defined as midnight to 6 a.m. on any street or other parking area without a permit issued by the patrol. Guests may park on the street during the above-mentioned hours if prior notification is given to the SunBird Patrol and there is a SunBird guest card displayed on the driver’s side of the dashboard. The maximum period is 30 nights.

Don’t let the dark stop your walking. If your schedule leaves you walking at dawn, dusk, or after dark, please do it safely. Wear reflective gear, such as reflective patches or stripes, on the front, back, and down the sides of your walking clothes. Light your way by having a lightweight flashlight with you. Also, be sure to walk facing the traffic so that you can see and react to vehicles.

Remember to have your homeowners, renter, or guest cards with you always. The patrol may ask to see the appropriate ID while using any of the HOA’s amenities. Please be cooperative and proud to show any of those identification cards if asked to do so.

Scams near you. Always be very careful. Scammers are getting good at what they do, and they are targeting everyone. Protect yourself by staying alert and well educated on all the common scams and frauds.

We are looking forward to another fun-filled month of November. Arguably the greatest thing about November is Thanksgiving. It’s all about family, friends, food, and especially honoring military veterans, who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
