November, and we welcome back the snowbirds and rain birds. As we venture into our very busy season, I want to say a thank you to all the year-round residents who supported us all summer, even during our extended days of heatwaves.
With the finish of overseeding, we will reopen the golf course on Monday, November 5. When we open, it will be cart path only for at least two weeks. You may check with the Pro Shop for details of how long it will be cart path only.
Starting times for November will be 8:00 a.m. That will be for both shotgun starts and tee time starts. We will have shotgun starts on Monday through Saturday at 8:00 a.m. each day. Tee times will begin in the afternoon of each day at approximately noon. Sunday we will have tee times in the morning starting at 8:00 a.m., and it will be tee times all day.
The Pro Shop will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Call-in for tee times will be 7:00 a.m. each day.
The following are the days in advance that you may call in for tee times: 21ers, ten days in advance; members who have reclassified their membership to non-redeemable, nine days; members, eight days; and residents and guests may call in seven days in advance of the tee time.
The very popular CRAB Tournament and auction will be held November 16 and 17.
The CRAB Tournament is a contest among four groups at SunBird, Canadians, Road Runners, Americans and the Bandits. Last year’s champion was the Americans.
The auction for the CRAB Tournament will be held on Friday, November 16, on the patio at 2:00 p.m. This event, the tournament and auction have been a huge fundraiser for the golf course, so we hope you will all get out and support these two events.
On Saturday, December 8, we will have the SunBird Open Golf Tournament. This is also one of the most popular tournaments we have at SunBird. Check with the Pro Shop for the details.
A change from our summer play is that our 9-hole groups, the Men’s 9ers, Gentleman’s Club, Sweet 16s, Swingers and Giggle Gals, will be playing an afternoon schedule instead of a morning schedule. They will actually start play at 11:45 a.m. with a shotgun start on the back 9.
