Footnotes from the library

Marilyn Klooster

Summer is knocking at our door – guess we had better let her in. (Do we really have a choice here?) Temperatures are on the rise as our Arizona summer radiates in all its glory. Summer finds us wherever we call home and play – a good time to lay back, relax and keep cool.

Greeting the warmth and beauty of each day, we seek refuge from the heat while continuing activities which bring us joy. Libraries are cool and safe havens and our SunBird Library invites you to stay cool (especially now with the construction of the new pool). Experience the excitement when the first lines of a book grab you; the sense of pride and accomplishment when the puzzle in progress evolves into a work of art or, perhaps, humor. The library puzzle areas are guaranteed to entertain and provide you with an escape from the heat.

Come and find refuge. Perhaps you will make a terrific and personal discovery among our library sources. You are welcome to remove materials from the shelves (limited to SunBird residents) to your home for your enjoyment. We expect all items which are borrowed will be returned and that you borrow no more than five items at a time.

The sweet and golden days of summer can be full of cool anticipation, adventure and serendipity in the library.
