Art Club news

Sharon Eade

February is one of our favorite months in the Art Club. A number of years ago, one of our members suggested we “challenge” ourselves by picking a theme each year that all members would translate into paintings. As in many parts of our lives, we find ourselves gravitating to things that we really enjoy. Artists find they may enjoy painting landscapes, florals, portraits, animals, etc., and as our comfort grows in certain subjects, we don’t always push out into new horizons. The challenge brings us to do art that we may never have thought to do ourselves. Each year, we pick a subject, and February is the month we showcase all our members’ interpretation of that subject. This year is “animals,” and we will be placing our pieces in the showcase from February 22 to March 7. As in years past, the variety of works bring such fun as we see how each member finds a way to individualize the same theme.

Be sure to check our showcase in the lobby and take some time to see them all… it is always a hit! Also, be sure to mark your calendars for March 16 when we will be having our annual Art Club Show and Sale! This is such a great time for you to meet our members and see what wonderful works of art we produce. Wouldn’t it be special to not only find a piece of art for your home or to give as a gift, but to be able to have met the artist in person? We certainly look forward to meeting and chatting with all of you.
