Wanted: warm, winsome, willing women to join Kare Bears

Rosie VanderVeen

The harvest season is rapidly approaching! Its refreshing chill reminds us the blistering heat of Arizona summer season eventually fades into a vague memory when fall arrives. Our winter visitors will soon be here for another season, and the bustle of activities will once more permeate and infuse our community. We anticipate the impressive events proposed by our incoming Kare Bear Board, a vigorous group of movers and shakers.

Our first Kare Bear meeting was October 17 (too late for news publication). Keep tuned in! We are looking forward to interesting speakers, spirited camaraderie and various ways to serve our great community. We are looking for new members to join us at our upcoming meeting on November 21 at 1:00 p.m. in the SunBird Ballroom. You will be warmly received by our members.

The first Kare Bear Faire is scheduled for Saturday, November 3, at 8:00 a.m. in the SunBird Ballroom. Vendors will present their wares, and the white elephant table has items you just can’t live without. Check out the collectibles and fine quality items table as well. If you have items that require a pick-up, please call Sherry Fann at 480 883-1167.

Community Day is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the SunBird Ballroom. The Kare Bears will be hosting tables with more definitive information available on our organization, including the history of our 20-plus years as a SunBird club. Stop and pick up a greeting card to sign and send to a member serving in active military service.

Our most exciting announcement is that Kare Bears will be presenting a famous tribute band, “The Credence Clearwater Revival,” in the SunBird Ballroom. The CCR or original dynamic group performed a collaboration of old school rock ‘n’ roll, swamp rock and southern gospel in the ‘60s and ‘70s – numerous chart busters such as “Susie Q,” “Travelin’ Band,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising” and their most famous tune, “Proud Mary.”

Tickets will be available for $20, plus service fee, to SunBird residents only beginning December 1 through December 15. Following the pre-ticket sale, they will be accessible to public purchase.

See flyers in the clubhouse for more information.
