Thank You, Friends

On behalf of the men and women serving the USA in other countries, the SunBird Lions would like to thank all those that donated to our Packages from Home program. Thanks to your generosity we were able to deliver 130 pounds of snacks, games and personal items along with 151 pair of much needed crew socks. Cash donations will help defer shipping costs. We don’t know if the packages will be delivered by Christmas, but  we’re hoping.

Wanda Gastineau, Activities Director

I would like to thank all the volunteers that helped me with all our activities this year!! We couldn’t have done it without you.

It’s so great to have residents that care about our community and are willing to step up and help with whatever is needed.

Have a Happy New Year and may it be a safe and healthy one!

Mary Lanphear

I would like to thank everyone that helped to make my 80th birthday so very special. Your delightful birthday wishes and generous donations to the Humane Society were greatly appreciated. I am so blessed to live in a community that makes everyone feel welcome and loved.  Again, thank you.

Steve Lemmons

I would like to thank all my friends and neighbors for their cards, visits and help during my recent rehab. And a special thanks to my wife, Joan, and my two boys, Brad and Brian. SunBird is a great place to live.

Dear SunBird community residents,

On behalf of John Hornak’s family, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to the SunBird community. Thank you for honoring John’s memory with your very meaningful tribute. Your heartfelt words touched us deeply and we will be forever grateful for the loving memories shared in articles by Pat Thomas, Norm Littrell and Madelaine Pascha.

Our father spoke with such pride of his community, supportive neighbors, and of course, his passion for performing in the SunBird variety shows and community choir. We take comfort knowing that he was surrounded by such a special community and caring friends. A special thank you to Pat Thomas, Ruth Robinson, Marcie Franklin and Dr. James Gascoyne for your kindness, generosity and support.

John was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery on December 19, 2016. We cherish our wonderful memories of him and are grateful for the love of friends and family.

“What though the radiance which was once so bright

Be now for ever taken from my sight,

Though nothing can bring back the hour

Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;

We will grieve not, rather find

Strength in what remains behind.”

– William Wordsworth

Sincerely,

Christine Stein (daughter)
