Thank You, Friends – January 2015

Ken Buss

Thanks, all of you, for helping me celebrate my 80th birthday. It was a great night. A special thanks to Julie and her staff for preparing and serving a great meal in the Horizon Room. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

German Club

Frank Nechvatal, President

In December the SunBird American German Club held a Christmas party in the Horizon Room. Julie, the Manager, graciously agreed to prepare breaded veal cutlets and breaded chicken cutlets with hot German potato salad and sauerkraut. She shared with me that this was a first for her and her staff. They searched the web for recipes to prepare this German fare. The club is happy to say that the staffs of the Horizon Room efforts were ausgezeichnet (outstanding)! Kudos to Julie and her staff for giving the German Club a great meal and fun evening.

Dankschoen

James Miller family

Thank you for the prayers, concerns, offers of assistance and the touchingly beautiful cards sent by so many, following the passing of our husband and father, James E. Miller.

To those who shared food in the final days, especially Marlene Weese and her homemade chicken noodle soup, we gratefully acknowledge their generosity and big hearts. To Dan and Gordon, the men who came running to help with lifting my husband, you are indeed a blessing from above!

To my wonderful friends in SunBird:

What a thrill it was to see so many of you at my going away party last Saturday evening. I was overwhelmed by the number of people that were there.

Julie’s food was spectacular! We are so lucky to have her.

I have loved living in SunBird and am sad to be leaving. I will miss you all, especially Nan, Rosie, Margaret, Phyllis, Teri, Layne and others who helped with this fantastic send off.

Affectionately, Marion Patterson

Shirley and Norm Rammage

Thank you, friends!

We thank all of our SunBird friends and neighbors for their care, concern and prayers during Shirley’s emergency surgery in November.

We are blessed to live in a community (like no other) where people really do care.

Our best wishes for 2015 to be a happy, healthy year for everyone.

There is no way I can thank individually my friends and neighbors in SunBird for prayers and get well wishes during my recent setback. So I am taking this way to say thank you – thank you. It has been overwhelming.

Lori Littrell

I so wanted to be able to thank all of you in person for all the prayers, well wishes and financial support during my ongoing battle with cancer. Some of you sent cards on a regular basis, how caring.

As a new year is about to begin I hope it will be a new beginning for me and that I will be able to be back in the main stream of things, and once again live a normal life. This will be God’s decision, so keep those prayers coming. At the same time, I want to take this time to wish the best for you and yours and may God bless you all.

It would be impossible for me to list all the individuals who have sent cards, gave gifts or offered encouragement to Mom or Dad so I’ll just use this space to thank all of you. I can say thank you to some of the groups and I sure hope I don’t miss anyone. The Kare Bears, the SunBird Office, the SunBird Bandits (Dad’s been a member of this group for over 20 years), the Lions Club, the Irish Club and the Road Runners.

The I Love Lori Show produced and directed by Maddy Paschal completely overwhelmed me. I can’t believe that all those talented people would get together and put on a show to raise money for my cause. I couldn’t attend the show in person, but I cried like a baby when I watched it on video. Thank you, Maddy, and a big thank you to all the performers and crew members. I would also like to thank Maddy’s daughter, Roni Lowe Brumley, designer of the I Love Lori logo – excellent! And Maddy, we sold nearly 100 I Love Lori t-shirts thanks to you.

When I’m not having some procedure done, I am recuperating at my parents’ home in SunBird, 1570 East Cherry Hill Drive; phone 480-895-5816. I have my good days and my bad days; on my bad days you don’t want to be around me as I’m in a lot of pain; but on my good days, my dad says I’m my old smiley self and ought to see some people. So give me a call and maybe we can get together for 15 or 20 minutes.

Dad also said we have I Love Lori DVDs available at $10 each; if you would like one please call the number above.

Keep smiling – I choose life – Love to all,

Lori Littrell
