SunBird Singers begins spring concert rehearsals

Norm Ott

The SunBird Singers and their directors, Owen and Joyce Bae, wish to thank you, the SunBird community, for your attendance and financial support at their recent Christmas concert. As you know, there is no admission charge for these concerts. It is only through your generous donations collected at the door that the Singers can purchase the necessary music to produce these concerts. The singers hope that this Christmas concert provided an enjoyable start to your Christmas season.

Looking ahead, it is now time to start preparations for the annual spring concert. The theme of this concert is “Music to Remember.” It will feature songs by some of the famous mid-20th century composers such as Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein and Jerome Kern. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse Ballroom and will continue each Monday at the same time until the dates of the concert. The concert this year will be held on Wednesday, March 9 and on Thursday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. again in the Ballroom. The singers should plan on arriving 15 minutes early to the first rehearsal to pick up their music.

Participation in the SunBird Singers is a fun experience and a great way to provide good entertainment for the SunBird community. Anyone interested in joining the chorus is welcome to attend. There are no auditions required. Please bring a three ring black binder and pencil to the first rehearsal.

Questions about joining the group can be directed to Owen or Joyce at 480-802-3859.
