SunBird Men’s Golf Association meeting planned for November 7

Norm Ott

Can it be that fall is descending upon us already? At least it is in Michigan where this article is being written. The temperatures are cooling, the leaves are changing color and the sound of a school bus is coming down the road. Well, it is what it is and with the advent of fall, it is time to start thinking about the start of the Men’s Golf Club 2017-2018 season.

Loren Carrel, club president, will call the first meeting of the new season to order on Tuesday, November 7, at 9:00 a.m. in the clubhouse ballroom. As usual, the executive committee will convene on the same day at 8:00 a.m. in the Lakeside Room. Regular business meetings will continue through April 2018 on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m., again, in the ballroom. All current members, if in town, are encouraged to attend, and newcomers who have an interest in joining or would like to learn more about the association are also encouraged to attend.

The SunBird Men’s Golf Association is open to all golfers, regardless of skill level, who would like to participate in regularly-scheduled tournaments held each Thursday morning. Tournaments include stroke play, scrambles and other games at the discretion of the tournament committee. While weekly participation is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Players may sign up and play when they can. Participation is a great way to play some competitive golf at your level and to meet other golfers.

Membership in the association includes membership in the Arizona Golf Association and in the GHIN handicap system. For questions about membership, please contact Fred Garmeson, membership chairman, at 480-895-9363.
