Sun Lakes United Methodist Church Tuesday Nights Together

The Education Committee of Sun Lakes United Methodist Church invites their neighbors to enjoy Tuesday Nights Together (TNT) with them this summer. A variety of free, informative and entertaining programs will start on Tuesday, June 10 and run weekly through August 5. Programs begin at 6:30 p.m. and last about one to one and one-half hours. All events are held in Lindsay Hall except for our musical events which will be held in the Sanctuary.

Join us this month, in June, when we will kick off the following events:

June 10: Then What, Now What, So What! Native Americans and the Church. Billie Fidlin is the founder and president of the Native American/First Nations nonprofit impact organization Whisper ‘n Thunder, designed to empower Native American/First Nations peoples through education, awareness and opportunity. She is Director of Outreach for the UMC Desert Southwest Conference and serves as liaison for 23 areas related to social justice, mission, young leadership, and education.

June 17: Sacred Music – Cantor Ronda Polesky from Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation. Ronda Polesky is a gifted cantor with Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation who will share her considerable vocal talent and beliefs with us in a stunning demonstration of her faith. She will present a musical journey as she sings songs written to biblical text such as from the five books of Moses and the Psalms. Ronda will be accompanied by Shea Marshall on the piano and the event will be held in the Sanctuary.

June 24: Trails and Tales of the National Park Service through the Eyes of a Native American. Barbara Sutteer is a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and was raised on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation in Utah. After attending the Universities of Utah and Alaska, her career included service with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, FAA and the National Park Service. While serving as Superintendent at Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, she secured Congressional authorization to establish an Indian Memorial, the first time that the U.S. recognized Indian warriors. Come and listen to her fascinating stories that attest to her knowledge of American Indian History.

The July and August events will be posted in the July issue of the Splash. If you have questions please call Sun Lakes United Methodist Church at 480-895-8766. We are located at 9248 E Riggs Road in Sun Lakes, between Dobson and Sun Lakes Boulevard. Please come and enjoy Tuesday Nights Together!
