New Adventures in Learning, a lifelong-learning program, offers a free film every week for members for the entire summer semester. Classes begin on June 3 and end on July 31, 2019. This programming provides an opportunity to learn about and to enjoy classic films. Along with viewing favorite motion pictures, old and new friends may meet regularly during the hot Arizona summer. Jan Bobbett who has organized the movie events expects there will be popcorn available during the showings. Although the following schedule is subject to change, below is the anticipated list of films for the first season. Please note that the days of the week and the start times vary. Be sure to register early for each of these separate events.
* Wednesday, June 5, A River Runs through It, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
* Wednesday, June 12, The Terminal, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
* Wednesday, June 19, RBG, 10:00 a.m. to noon
* Wednesday, June 26, Amadeus, 9:00 a.m. to noon
* Wednesday, July 3, Chicago, 9:00 a.m. to 11: 15 a.m.
* Thursday, July 11, A League of Their Own, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
* Thursday, July 18, Under the Tuscan Sun, 10:00 am. to noon
* Wednesday, July 24, Young Frankenstein, 10:00 a.m. to noon
Along with this new program featuring movies, New Adventures offers, as always, a wide range of other classes. Information is posted on the website, www.NewAdventures.info. Packets about the summer go out to all current members in early May. Online registration opens on May 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. and remains available for open classes all semester. New Adventures in Learning is a membership organization that has been encouraging lifelong learning since 1998 and is affiliated with Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Membership is $65 paid annually to New Adventures. That amount includes a $15 fee at that time that goes to CGCC for the semester. An additional $15 fee also occurs for every other semester in which a member registers for a class or an event. Registration and payment are available online.
