We ended the season with lots of excitement! Jan Sirois had her first hole-in-one! When I asked her how she did it she said, “Well, it all started the day I was born” and then she went into much more detail, but I will sum it up with, “It just happened!” Congratulations, Jane!

Then, of course, the big finish, which I missed, was the guys and gals golf and barbecue. I hear everyone had tons of fun. We honored Cindy Vig, club champion for this season, and Barb Dunbar for winning the SunBird Cup this season. Again, congratulations, ladies!

At the April luncheon/Board meeting, Cindy officially passed the gavel to Karen Gilmore. Cindy, thank you again for your years of service! You did a great job and I know Karen will also.

As the season ends, I would like to remind those ladies that will be staying and playing all summer long that we are now officially referred to as Some Ladies Golfing Association or SLGA. We will still sign up on the board each week and Dave will create our pairings, our games and submit your scores. Thank you Dave, we will appreciate your help and all that you do for us.

Season’s year end awards:

Lowest Gross Score: Karen Gilmore with a 68

Lowest Net: Lil Macpherson

Birdies:

Flight 1 – Karen Gilmore with 14

Flight 2 – Tie between Lil Macpherson, and Kaye Wulfekuhler with eight each

Flight 3 – Barb Dunbar and Janet Farrell tied with six each

Flight 4 – Jan Trokelson with seven

Now I have a special request as I am in need of a little help. Would any of you fine ladies like to help with this fun and exciting honor of writing the newsletter article? I am going to spend a bit more time learning all the obligations of the Vice President and would really appreciate being able to pass the monthly writing along to someone else who may enjoy it as much as I have. Best part is that you get to be as creative as you would like (well, there are some boundaries ha ha). Thank you in advance for the person or persons willing to step into this task. It really is fun and does not take much time at all. Just give me a call or send me an email; I will even partner up with you this next season if you want.

Heads up on the 2016/2017 season – mark your calendars now so you don’t miss out!

November 1 – our first luncheon/Board meeting

November 15 – we host the lady Niners

December 3 – Christmas Social with SunBird golf and tennis groups! Yep, I just said Christmas and it’s only May!

December 6 – Christmas lunch. Look I said it again; I better sign off now).

Until next time – hit ‘em long and straight, and have fun wherever you are playing this summer!
