Short Line Model Railroad Club meets February 14

Harry Huckemeyer

The next scheduled meeting for the Short Line Model Railroad Club is set for February 14 at 9:30 a.m. in the Lakeview Room located in the SunBird Community Center. Interested parties are always welcome to attend. The major portion of the meeting will be reviewing current plans currently in place for the 2017 season and looking into future opportunities that may be of interest for our participation. For you hobby enthusiasts, there are always opportunities to satisfy your thirst. One that may be of interest is a Model Train Swap Meet on February 18 in Phoenix. If you are interested, give me a call and I’ll provide you with additional details.

A special event, open to the general public, will be coming to the Phoenix Convention Center early in the month on February 4 and 5. Known as the “World’s Greatest Hobby and Tour,” it travels to several major cities each year. I believe children up to the age of 15 will be admitted free of charge. This event travels to several major cities throughout the year, and probably won’t be coming back to Phoenix for at least the next five years. You may want to put this on your calendar. I’m sure many clubs will be taking part in this exhibition, along with many vendors, who will be displaying the latest technologies in the ever-changing model railroad world.

If you would like any additional information or have questions regarding our club, feel free to call me at 480-802-4976, or contact me by email at [email protected]. If calling and I’m not available, please leave a message on my answering machine with a number I can get back to you with. Thank you all for your support over the past year—we’re looking forward to seeing you at one of our scheduled events in the not too distant future. Have a great day.
