Second notice: the fifth is coming

Connie Dreyer

The fifth annual SunBird Open Golf Tournament is planned for Wednesday, December 3. It will be a Scramble four-person format. So, golfers – get your teams together and note the team names on the score cards, collect $40 per person and signup in the Pro Shop beginning November 1. The first 36 teams will be guaranteed a spot for play.

Check-in will be at 8:00 a.m. in the Ballroom with coffee and donuts, tee-time is at 9:00 a.m. and lunch will follow. Gross and net team winners will “bring home the bacon” (prize monies).

The committee members, Gary Metzger, Jim Dolwick, Jack Cooper, George Richardson, Connie Dreyer and Eileen Stroahman, are planning a fun day for all with lots of door prizes as well as prizes for the usual KP’s and longest putts. Perhaps we might also have a hole-in-one on the course that day.

And please remember to support our sponsors whose generosity helped the last four SunBird Opens make nearly $30,000 for our great golf course. Let’s add to that total for the fifth.

Many of the tournaments played at SunBird use their proceeds for golf course projects. One of the most recent projects was the leveling of tee beds on Hole Nos. 8, 14 and 16. Funds from the fourth Sun Bird Open Tournament and the 2013 CRAB Tournament were used to complete these tee beds.
