News from the SunBird Quilters

Nussy Merchant

We meet every Thursday in the Hopi Room which is available to the group from 12:30-5:30 pm. Most of us work on our own projects, but we do have classes or group projects.

We are planning to restart working on the AZ Blankets for Kids. A couple of our members have continued making so many quilts for kids that are donated and much appreciated by the receivers. We used to have many members involved in making them, but it tapered off due to lack of member participation over the years. It is a great way to learn quilting or practice your skills and make a donation quilt at the same time.

At this point we are looking for donations of 100 percent cotton fabrics and batting. We could take donations of other sewing related items too (please no old ragged fabrics or polyester clothing). We want to make nice quilts for the people we are donating to. The items may be dropped off in the Hopi room by the magazines area.

If you are interested in joining our group, please do come any Thursday afternoon. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected].

We look forward to seeing some of you at our Thursday afternoon get together, and also your generous donations.
