Line Dancing with Judee

Judee Curtis

Our Christmas line dance group was small, as there were family health issues and gatherings, going out of town, going “back home,” illnesses, injuries, you name it. But the dancers who came had a great time, did a good job, and we danced every dance on the list! We also decided that, next year, we will have our line dance the Sunday before Thanksgiving on the 22nd of November, avoiding the “rush of the December holidays.”

If you would like to join us, be sure to register now for Ultra Basic classes starting on Monday, Jan. 6, in the SunBird Ballroom. Call 480-802-0201 after 10 a.m., leave your name and phone number, and state that you are interested in line dancing classes. Be sure to leave a message, as I block numbers I do not know. You will be registering for classes on Mondays at 11:30 a.m. for $2. If you can’t come for the first class, there is a deadline of Jan. 11, to start the 13th. After that date, you can register for classes that start on Monday, Sept. 7.

Validation of my method of teaching for more than 20 years is when I watch the dancers dance. They have been taught what they are doing with their feet, learned steps, patterns, and dances. Plus, they are almost smiling while dancing. It’s very hard to smile, concentrate, and remember dances they have learned. When the dance is over, we smile, clap, and “bust our buttons” because we are happy with our accomplishment. There’s “FUN” in dancing if you have been “taught” the dances! Plus, it is good exercise for our bodies and mostly our minds. Escape with us from this crazy world. God Bless line dancing!
