Irish Club news

Mary Pilon, Secretary

The Irish Club held its November meeting on November 3 in the Horizon Room at 6:00 p.m. After the usual greeting, reading of the October meeting minutes and the Treasurer’s report, we heard from the various committee chairmen.

Our Christmas party will be held on December 17 in the Ballroom. Shirley Goodman is in charge of the party. We will have a $10 gift exchange and also will bring unwrapped gifts for the students at Hartford school. Prime rib or chicken dinners will be catered by the Horizon Room and music for dancing will be provided by Tone and Mark.

We decided on the Riverside Resort/Casino for our annual February Laughlin road trip on February 16, 17 and 18. This is always a fun-filled trip (and perhaps even a profitable trip for some lucky Irishmen).

A Bocce Ball league has been formed and will play each Monday from 1:00-3:30 p.m. There is no charge for Bocce Ball and it is always quite easy and enjoyable to play, especially when you win. Janet Rosenstock is in charge of this activity.

Our 50/50 raffle was won by Ed Nowicki who took home $82. Mary Ann Nowicki won the drawing for an Irish Club hat; $39 was won in the dollar game by “Ann” – I didn’t get her last name!

As an added treat, we were entertained by three 11-year old Irish dancers. These young ladies performed in soft sole shoes and also hard sole shoes. Their entire ensemble will dance at our corned beef and cabbage dinner on March 16. Our members all enjoyed the preview of the dance performance.

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 1 at 6:00 p.m. in the Horizon Room. New members are always welcome to join in the fun in the Irish Club.
