Honor Flight Arizona is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s WW II and Korean War veterans for their many sacrifices, and flies these veterans from Phoenix on a completely free three-day journey to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C.
Any WWII veteran who served between December 7, 1941 and January 31, 1946, and any veteran of the Korean Conflict who served between the dates of June 25, 1950 and January 31, 1955 qualifies to participate in this “journey of thanks and remembrance.” Veterans are often accompanied by sons or daughters who must pay their own way on the trip. Note: veterans requiring walkers and/or wheelchairs are welcome on the trip.
SunBird resident and WW II veteran Van Christman recently returned from Washington, D.C. with Honor Flight Arizona. He is anxious to share his experiences and is hoping to help other SunBird residents apply for the trip. Van was accompanied by his son Jed.
