Golf General Manager’s report

Rick Lantgen

Happy New Year, SunBird Golf Club! Golfing is at its peak right now with all kinds of opportunities to play, if it’s playing 18 holes, nine holes or just going to the driving range to hit some balls. The conditions are great and the staff is always there to serve. The greens committee meets monthly to discuss short term goals and projects as well as the future of the golf course. This year there are a lot of projects on the burner; possibly a renovation of the driving range tee and staging area and beautifying the Championship Waterview intersection slope that is now mostly dirt. Equipment this year will be another John Deere Pro Gater. Look forward to seeing all of you and hope you have a great winter here at SunBird.

A special Thank you to all of our volunteer committees; the input and expertise you all bring to each meeting is a huge part of how we operate SunBird Golf Club. Also a big shout out to Norm Ott and his crew of over 50 volunteers who look after the course at the end of each day. They fill divots, repair ball marks, rake fairways and make our course shine. Everyone can help by filling your divot and a couple of others, too. If you are able to take sand from the Clubhouse barrels we won’t have to refill the tee box containers as often.
