Footnotes from the Library – November 2014

Nancy Smith

The SunBird Library is pleased to announce two new special books related to our community. They are on the shelf now.

Fool’s Gold is by Jim Ott, the son of Norm and Nancy Ott. Jim Ott’s 30 years of experience as a speaker and author in schools, churches and camps reveal a wisdom worth reading. “Searching for goodness in the human heart” is finding the true value in every person.

Ott states that if we are honest with ourselves we can see our problems are often traced to our own folly. (How true)! Fool’s gold is shiny and easy to grab, but the real core gold is in each human heart. “We have to strip away the garbage with which we have surrounded the core gold that has been placed in every human being.” This insightful book can be found in the Non-Fiction section under “O” (Ott).

Another book donated to our library is The Six Months Proposal by Irene Coatta. Irene is a SunBird resident and renowned artist writing her first novel.

It is an appetizing travelogue combining tasty foreign dining and tasty romance. You’ll visit London, Paris, Berlin, Pompeii and other famous landmarks. The main characters, Wil and Renee, discover their own priceless experiences as Renee collects souvenirs and Wil manages the VW on the Autobahn. You can find Irene’s book in the Fiction section under “C” (Coatta).
