Footnotes from the library

Marilyn Klooster

Greetings and hugs for the holidays from the SunBird Library volunteers!

At this time of year, many of us are making lists and checking them twice. It is during the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas when we experience the heart and spirit of love for one another. We will be busily wrapping gifts, decorating our homes (inside and out) and making and baking our favorite recipes.

Holiday gatherings with family and friends can make for long and hectic days in December. It is now that we need to take a few moments for ourselves with a good book and a wonderful holiday story within. In your SunBird library you will find many heart warming tales. Some will be light hearted and humorous while others, poignant.

Wrap yourself a gift with a book in the spirit of the season, especially when you have a few moments of free time in your busy schedule. I would like to share with you a few of my favorite reads for the holidays.

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham

The Christmas Train by David Baldacci

Deck the Halls/The Christmas Thief by Mary Higgins Clark

If you enjoy an occasional break from holiday shopping and preparations, look for your favorite authors’ holiday/Christmas themed stories. You will find many of these tales on our SunBird Library shelves.

So go ahead and feel free to kick off your shoes and grab a cup of cheer! Open your gift and enjoy within the pages a few hours of humorous moments, tender insights and inspiration. As you read, may you personally experience the magic and many colors of love throughout the prose and poetry before you.
