Energy and Functional Yoga April Schedule

Paullene Caraher

April 2020 Schedule:

Classes are held at the SunBird Golf Resort, Navajo Room, upper level.

Morning: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 7:40 to 8:50 a.m.

Afternoon: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 4 to 5:10 p.m.

Wednesday class is finished until October.

Energy Yoga includes tapping and slapping the body to increase movement of blood and energy through the body. This slapping or tapping is an ancient Martial Arts method of getting the energy, QI, flowing through the body. We do this at the beginning of most classes. It is a good practice for you to do at home to wake up your body and spirit.

Functional Yoga means each pose is done to enhance a specific function of the body; to strengthen a muscle, to build the bones, to activate the myofascial tissue, to activate and restore joint movement, and thereby feel more energetic and move without pain. The feet are the foundation of the skeletal system, and the hips are the stabilizers. Correct posture is necessary to have the bones, muscles, and internal organs function in an optimal manner.

The special class for women addressing problems of incontinence and prolapse is finished until the October. Some of the exercises will be incorporated in the regular classes. Many of these exercises in the regular classes can be done in the chairs.

Paulene is getting professional training in Prolapse and Incontinence from the Whole Woman Company founded by Christine Kent from Albuquerque, NM. www.wholewoman.com

Nidra Yoga is done on the second Tuesday for the morning class and more often for the afternoon class. This is a relaxing and meditative practice to relieve stress. Either lie down or relax in a chair. Listen to Paullene’s voice as your body relaxes and your mind is guided into a restful state of consciousness and awareness. This gives the cells a chance to recuperate while you are quieting the mind.

Remember, new participants are welcome. It’s easy to follow along, feeling the camaraderie of shared yoga energy. Bring a donation and a mat; mats are available in the room. How do I sign up?
